JOLIET, IL- JackHammers show support for University of St. Francis as the school supports the community and TOMS Shoes' ONE-FOR-ONE philosophy: with every pair of shoes you purchase, a new pair of shoes will be given to a child in need! Shortstop Kevin Rios, General Manager Jamie Toole and Vice President of Operations and Marketing Kelly Sufka each purchased a pair of TOMS Shoes and donated the other to children in need within the Joliet community.
Blake Mycoskie, founder and chief shoe giver for TOMS Shoes, will speak at University of St. Francis on Thursday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recreation Center. The USF students already embraced his mission to put shoes on the feet of children in need. The Duns Scotus honor society students and the Peer Ministers have been working together to raise money for 90 pairs of TOMS Shoes to give to deserving children in the greater Joliet area.
Mycoskie will discuss TOMS and social entrepreneurship. His speech is free and open to the public. Proceeding Mycoskie's speech, the students will host a "Style Your Sole" party to decorate and customize the 90 pairs of shoes, which later will be distributed through Catholic Charities, Guardian Angel Community Services and the university's Health and Wellness Center. The students set their fundraising goal at 90 pairs because the university is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
