Miners Annual 5K Home Run Challenge Set For May 15

MARION, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Miners will host the third annual 5K Home Run Challenge on Saturday, May 15 at Rent One Park. The race is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Rent One Park and will conclude on the field at home plate.
The registration form for runners and walkers is available on the Miners website. Registration will also be available on the day of the race beginning at 6:30 a.m.
The cost is $20 for adults and includes a race T-shirt. Children under the age of 12 can run for free, but also have the option of purchasing a T-shirt for $15.
"This has been a great event and a lot of fun for everyone involved in our first two years with it," Miners General Manager Tim Arseneau said. "I hope to see even more 5K runners and families participating in the 5K walk this year."
Last year's event saw approximately 100 runners and walkers compared to just over 70 in the inaugural event.
