Real Salt Lake News Release

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. - Real Salt Lake saw an improved defensive effort in its second match of the 2010 preseason this afternoon against the Colorado Rapids, but the Utah side couldn't punch one past its archrival and was forced to settle for a 0-0 draw at the Francisco Grande Resort.

Much like in its preseason opener last Saturday against Vancouver, Real Salt Lake seemed to be chasing play in the first half, as Colorado had the bulk of the possession and better chances towards goal. And again following the same script, RSL came out on its front foot after the halftime break and continually created scoring opportunities - highlighted by rookie MF Collen Warner's left-footed blast just past the hour mark that was knocked aside for a corner by Rapids GK Matt Pickens. While none of the pushes forward came to fruition on the day, Real Salt Lake goalkeepers Kyle Reynish and Tim Melia were able to hold steady in the first and second halves, respectively, combining to post a clean sheet in the second and final exhibition match for the defending MLS Cup Champions during their two-week preseason camp in Arizona.
