Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Travel To Windy City This Weekend

The Stampede will play 13 of their last 17 regular season games on the road, starting this weekend with a trip to Chicago. The Herd will battle the Steel Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 PM.

Sioux Falls enters the week with a 23-10-10 record and in third place in the West Division, just five points behind the Fargo Force for second.

Last weekend, the Stampede earned three of a possible six points. On Friday, Matt Lindblad scored twice to lead the Herd to a 3-1 win over Youngstown. On Saturday, Mike Voran recorded two assists in a 5-3 loss to Green Bay and last night, Voran and Lindblad each posted a goal and an assist in a 4-3 overtime loss at Waterloo.

The Stampede are 8-5-4 on the road this season. The Herd's next home game is Thursday, March 4th against Chicago.

Pooka crowned Wiener Dog Race Champion

Pooka beat out a tough group of competitors Saturday night to earn the championship title at the 3rd Annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic "Wiener Dog Race!"

Pooka used an off-season training routine to edge out defending champion "Gator" and 27 other wiener dogs in a very tight race. Stampede's Skating Party a Success!

The McDonald's of Sioux Falls and Brandon Stampede "Skating Party" was once again a huge success after the Herd's 3-1 win over Youngstown Friday night. Stampede players took time to skate with fans of all ages as well as pose for photos and hand out autographs.

The Stampede are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games.

The Herd rank third in the league in goals scored per-game, averaging 3.91.

The Stamped are 18-2-5 when leading after two periods this season.

Sioux Falls is 15-5-5 when out shooting their opponents this year.

Mike Voran is currently riding an eight-game point streak in which he has recorded 13 points on two goals and 11 assists.

Matt Lindblad recorded five points (3g, 2a) in three games over the weekend in which the Herd went 1-1-1.

Mark Anthoine ranks second in the league in total shots on goal with 180. He ranks second in the league in shorthanded goals with four.

Dan Furlong is tied for second amongst USHL defenseman with seven powerplay goals this season. He ranks third amongst defenseman in shooting percentage having scored nine goals on 65 shots.

Chad Ruhwedel leads the Stampede with a plus/minus rating of plus-24, tied for second overall amongst USHL defenseman.

Conor Allen and Zack Kamrass are tied amongst defenseman for most shorthanded goal assists with two each.

BROADHURST NAMED "CCHA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK" AGAIN

For the second consecutive week, former Stampede forward Terry Broadhurst has been named CCHA "Rookie of the Week" after leading the University of Nebraska to a weekend sweep of Michigan.

On Friday, Broadhurst tallied two goals, including the eventual game winner, in a 4-3 victory over the Wolverines. On Saturday, Broadhurst set up the first two goals for the Mavericks in a 4-1 win. Broadhurst has 21 points (11g, 10a) in 34 games this season. He leads the Mavericks with four powerplay goals.

The Mavericks are now 16-12-6 on the season and have moved into fourth place in the CCHA and now trail second place Ferris State and Michigan State by just two points.

CARROLL SIGNS WITH NY RANGERS TOP AFFILIATE

After posting 33 points (21g, 12a) in 40 games with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL, former Stampede forward Andrew Carroll has signed a professional tryout contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. The Wolf Pack are the top affiliate of the New York Rangers. He led the Checkers in goals scored with 21 and ranked fourth amongst ECHL rookies.

This marks the second time this season Carroll has skated with the Wolf Pack, he joined the team earlier in the season for two games. Carroll and the Wolf Pack travel to Portland, ME this afternoon for a special President's Day tilt with the Pirates.
