Sioux Falls, SD--The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced Monday that Sioux Falls Stampede defenseman Conor Allen has been named CCM Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

Allen recorded two goals and was a plus-5 in two victories at Youngstown over the weekend. On Friday, Allen tallied the Herd's fifth goal of the first period, on the powerplay, en route to an 8-1 thumping of the Phantoms. On Sunday, Allen celebrated his 20th birthday by scoring the eventual game winning goal and finishing the night a plus-3.

The Chicago, IL native is in his first season with the Stampede and has eight points (3g, 5a) and is a plus-6 in 32 games this year. He has already committed to the University of Massachusetts.

Allen and the Stampede have won three straight games and five of their last six. They enter the week with a 21-8-8 record and in third place in the West Division, just five points behind Fargo for second.

The Stampede return to action this Thursday when they host the Fargo Force at 7:05 PM. Thanks to SMG/Sioux Falls Arena, it's also $1 beer night! Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Light taps will be just a buck all night long!
