MOLINE, Ill. (February 1, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that the Mallards' Jerad Kaufmann has been named IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending yesterday.

Kaufmann, a 25-year old rookie, earned the honor by backstopping Quad City to three wins in four games over a five-day span while giving up a total of just seven goals. The Roseville, Minnesota, native capped off a stretch during which he posted a 1.76 goals against average and a.945 save percentage with his second shutout of the season- a 21-save effort in yesterday's 3-0 defeat of the PrairieThunder in Bloomington. Yesterday's outing was Kaufmann's third start in under than 48 hours.

Kaufmann, who signed with the Mallards in early December, is tied for the league lead in save percentage (.921) and has posted a 2.70 goals against average while going 7-7-2-1 in 17 games this season. The University of Nebraska-Omaha product missed the first two months of the season after undergoing hip surgery in September.

Kaufmann completed a four year collegiate career at Nebraska-Omaha last spring. The Roseville, Minnesota, native went 9-10-3 with a 2.31 goals against average and a.915 save percentage and one shutout in 22 games with UNO last season. Over the course of his Maverick career, the 6' 3", 190-pound Kaufmann went 45-38-14 with a 2.84 goals against average, a.898 save percentage and four shutouts. In 2005-06 Kaufmann helped UNO to the first NCAA tournament berth in the school's history.
