Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release

LAKE CHARLES, LA (January 27, 2010) - Following a one-year hiatus, the Louisiana Swashbucklers of the Southern Indoor Football League are proud to announce that fullback/defensive lineman Rudy Johnson is returning to the Purple and Black Gang.

Prior to the 2009 season with the Acadiana Mudbugs, Rudy Johnson (6'2 250, SE Louisiana) spent the previous three seasons with the Louisiana Swashbucklers anchoring a defensive line that helped capture two championship titles. With the Mudbugs, Johnson earned All-SIFL honors finishing the season with 17 tackles (15 solo) with five tackles for a loss as well as adding two rushing touchdowns.

In his three seasons with the Bucs, Rudy collected 52 tackles (41 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks. Offensively, Johnson also amassed 11 rushing touchdowns serving as the short-yardage back for the black and purple.

"Rudy is a great all around athlete and a fan favorite in Lake Charles," says Louisiana Swashbucklers President Thom Hager. "Last year he played for Lafayette, but now returns to play in his more familiar black and purple jersey."

Johnson will make his second Bucs debut on Saturday March 20th as the Swashbucklers host the Houston Lightning at the Smugglers Den at 7:00 pm. For more information, be sure to visit www.labucs.com or call the team front office at 337-310-7277.
