Port Huron, Mich. - Nick Lindberg, Jamie Lovell and Mikael Bedard provided one goal and one assist apiece and Adam Russo made 28 saves as the Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, fell to the host Port Huron Icehawks 4-1 Saturday night.
The Icehawks scored the game's final three goals, a run that started during a Port Huron power play when Michael Gershon's blue line blast snapped a 1-1 tie at 4:48 of the second. Lovell doubled the lead at the 7:33 mark by ripping the puck home from the top of the left wing circle.
Bedard's tip-in stretched the gap to 4-1 at 7:17 of the third period. The Mallards were unable to narrow the margin, despite hurling 16 shots at Russon the third.
The Icehawks had first grabbed the lead while on the power play when Lindberg's drive from the high slot opened the scoring at 7:34 of the first period. With just 1:24 left in the first Joel Gasper tied the score at one by tipping in a shot by Shane Lovdahl.
