Hockey Legends And Stanley Cup To Invade Indy

INDIANAPOLIS - The 2010 USHL All-Star Game just got grander as the two-day event will feature a Hockey Legends game to precede the annual All-Star Game and an appearance in Indianapolis by the Stanley Cup. (A complete timeline for Tuesday appears at the end of the release)
The Legends game will include some of the greatest and most popular players to don a Racers, Checkers or Ice uniform in the "Circle City." Of the 34 players and coaches taking part in the contest, the list boasts 13 former NHL'ers led by longtime goal scorer Jimmy Carson, 1994 New York Rangers Stanley Cup Winner Brian Noonan and former St. Louis Blues defenseman Bruce Affleck and Detroit Red Wings forward Al Karlander.
Representing the Racers will be the trio of Kevin Devine, Karlander and Ken Block. Devine was also part of a strong Checkers group participating that will include Adams Cup champions Affleck and forwards Charlie Skjodt, Garth MacGuigan, Steve Stoyanovich, Monty Trottier and Ron Handy.
Returning players from the IHL Ice include forwards Noonan, Handy and David Hymovitz. Noonan was a member of the 1990 Turner Cup Championship Team, while Handy and Hymovitz both had 40-plus goal seasons in an Ice uniform.
Seven members of the 2000 Miron Cup Championship squad will be in attendance including forwards Ken Boone, Jan Jas, Lubos Krajcovic and Chris MacKenzie and defensemen Mike Berger and Bernie John and goaltender Jamie Morris. Fans can get a piece of the memorabilia as the jerseys that the Legends players will wear at the game will be auctioned off following their game on Tuesday with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Derek Zike Get Well Fund.
Joining the Legends in Indy will be the holy grail of the National Hockey League, the Stanley Cup. Fans can get their picture with the Cup at the USHL All-Star Gala on Monday and during the Legends and USHL All-Star Game on Tuesday. Photos with the Cup will be $10 as a portion of the proceeds will again be donated to the Derek Zike Get Well Fund.
