We know it's odd thinking about baseball with 2 feet of snow on the ground but it's always a good time to be thinking about the great times we had down at the ballpark in our inaugural season. We can't wait to have you back in 2010!

The Golden Baseball League wrapped up their annual winter meetings in conjunction with Minor League Baseball's winter meetings in Indianaplis, Indiana. A few major developments came out of the proceedings including details on the Annual All-Star festivities and a couple notable changes when it comes to rules governing rosters in the GBL.

The new look Golden Baseball League will also see at least 2 new teams in the coming months. Road trips won't be so harsh when GBL teams travel to Hawaii for games against the new team from Maui. They'll actually join the GBL's South

Division and begin play this upcoming season. The league also announced that they reached an agreement with an ownership group to start up a team in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley region. It has yet to be determined if they'll start up in 2010 or 2011. The league is scheduled to make some more announcements when it comes to teams in the New Year.

In other news, the designated hitter will be obsolete in 2010. In an effort to speed up the duration of games. the GBL will require pitchers in the league to take their turn at-bat.

Also, rosters will be allowed to expand from 22 players to 25 players after August 15th during the latter part of the regular season.
