Coach Murphy Jensen Reflects on ATP Champions Event in London's Royal Albert Hall

Kastles Coach Murphy Jensen and his brother Luke just completed competing in the ATP Champions Tour year end event at Royal Albert Hall in London where they played doubles against tennis greats including Peter Fleming, Henri Leconte, Cedric Pioline, Mark Woodforde, and Peter McNamara.

On his way back home after an incredible week in London, Murphy blogs about his experience:

Hey Kastles Fans!!!! Coach Murphy here and I just landed in NY after playing tennis in the AEGON Masters Doubles Tournament....this is my first year playing in the event. What makes this tournament most exciting is the venue and the players. I was competing with Mark Phillapousis, Patrick Rafter, Pat Cash, Mikael Pernfors, Stefan Edberg, Henri Leconte and Monsour Bahrami and Peter Flemming just to name a few.

And the Venue was magnificent. We played the Masters tournament at Royal Albert Hall which is a stadium that's used to hosting Pavarotti or Eric Clapton and not tennis! But it's still not as great as Kastles Stadium which is home to the 2009 World TeamTennis Champions!!!! I have played on center court at Wimbledon and the tournament at Royal Albert Hall was electric and atmosphere was amazing! Reminded me of the great matches and incredible play that we saw from Kastles superstar Leander Paes!

Another thing that was special was playing with my brother Luke!!!! Its been awhile since we made some noise on the courts and we were not sure if we had any rock and roll tennis left in us. But we did! We started the event winning our first 4 matches. Then the tennis climate changed as it does sometimes and we lost our last 3. We ended up as the only team with a winning record and it was great. The tennis was shown live on european television and I became an instant celebrity as I was recognized at Harrods as I was getting some Christmas Shopping done.

I got a lot of emails from Kastles fans wishing me luck and I really appreciate it. To be back on the courts running like I was 20 felt amazing! I wish I had the Kastles fans with me. And I'm not quite ready to play in the Kastles starting lineup but I am excited for 2010 and another Kastles season! My favorite thing about the tournament in London was catching up with all of the superstar players from yesterday. And instead of asking each other how we were playing or what's your ranking, our conversations were more about what's injured and what isn't injured! Hahaha!

As I look forward to wrapping up 2009 I will remember my favorite year in tennis and the highest point came when the Washington Kastles Team and its Fans all became World Champions!!!! I still get goose bumps when I think of Olga's amazing comeback! Until next time, Happy Holidays and get your tickets now for the 2010 Washington Kastles Season!

Refuse to Lose!!!!
