December 2, 2009 - NBA G League (G League) News Release


TUESDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Tuesday's games:

Dontell Jefferson led the Flash with 21 points, six rebounds and five assists. Bennet Davis followed with 17 points, while Orien Greene added 14 points and a game-high eight steals.

Diamon Simpson scored 17 to lead Los Angeles and Ryan Forehan-Kelly chipped in 11. Horace Wormely, Deron Washington and Michael Fey each added 10.

Alonzo Gee, the adidas Player of the Game, led the Toros with 30 points and Justin Bowen finished with 21 on the night. Russell Carter and Curtis Jerrells also finished in double figures, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Mustafa Shakur led Tulsa with 17 points. Larry Owens scored 12 and Cecil Brown added 11 more for the 66ers. Center Byron Mullens, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, finished with 10 points for Tulsa.

RED CLAWS ACQUIRE MARIO WEST

The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, announced that the team has acquired Mario West. To make room on the roster, the team waived Stanley Thomas. West, 25, appeared in 117 regular season games with the Atlanta Hawks over the last two seasons. He saw action in five preseason contests with the Hawks this season, putting in 2.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 1.0 spg. He was waived by Atlanta on October 22. West signed an NBA D-League contract and was claimed by the Red Claws.

MAD ANTS MAKE ROSTER CHANGES

The NBA D-League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants announced that Brandon Cotton and Andres Sandoval have been waived as Rod Wilmont and Oliver Lafayette have been acquired. Wilmont and Lafayette were both waived by the Erie BayHawks on November 25th.

Wilmont, a former Mad Ant and IU standout, played in all 50 games of the Mad Ants inaugural season (2007-08). He was drafted in the 5th round by the BayHawks and recorded 23 points in the BayHawks-Mad Ants pre-season game.

Lafayette, a starter for the BayHawks last season averaged 13.6 points per game. He recorded 14 against the Mad Ants in the pre-season game on November 20. At the University of Houston he averaged 14 points per game his senior season.

DAKOTA WIZARDS ACQUIRE CONNOR ATCHLEY

The Dakota Wizards have acquired Connor Atchley from the available player pool. Atchley, a 6'10 forward-center, played four games, including one start, for the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in July. After beginning this season in Turkey, he recently decided to return stateside to play in the NBA D-League.

ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at NBA D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:

17 players with NBA D-League experience competed in six NBA games last night, three as starters.

Alando Tucker scored 14 points in 12 minutes of play for the Phoenix Suns.

Denver's, Chris Andersen tallied 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Nuggets defeated the Warriors 135-107.

Martell Webster notched 11 points and five rebounds as a starter for the Portland Trailblazers.
