Sounds Announce 2010 Game Schedule

November 23, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL) Nashville Sounds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds released their 2010 playing schedule today and will host 72 games at historic Greer Stadium during their 33rd season of competition.

The Sounds will commence Pacific Coast League action when returning manager Don Money leads the club to the field on Thursday, April 8th at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa for the 2010 season opener, when they'll face the division-rival Iowa Cubs at 6:35 p.m.

After starting the campaign with an eight-game road trip, the Sounds will begin their 2010 home slate when they take the field at Greer Stadium on Friday, April 16th for a 7:05 p.m. contest against Iowa to open an eight-game homestand.

The 2010 home schedule includes ten homestands, eight day games, and 34 weekend dates (Fri.-Sun.) during what is sure to be another summer at the ballpark filled with affordable family fun.

Game times in 2010 will vary slightly from the past few seasons, as the team will start all games at five minutes after the hour or half-hour.

Monday through Friday contests will occur primarily at 7:05 p.m. All Saturday home games will be at 6:35 p.m. Sunday games at Greer Stadium will occur at 2:05 p.m. from the beginning of the season through June 20th, then will be 6:35 p.m. start times the remainder of the year.

Greer Stadium will host a pair of 11:05 a.m. Reading Club morning games on Wednesday, April 21 and Wednesday, May 12.

For the third straight year, Nashville concludes the regular season at Zephyr Field in New Orleans, where they'll wrap up the 2010 campaign with a 1:00 p.m. contest on Labor Day (September 6th) against the Zephyrs.

The Pacific Coast League continues its use of an unbalanced 144-game schedule format in 2010. The Sounds will play 16 games (eight home, eight away) against teams in their own conference. Nashville will host each of the four Pacific Conference Northern Division teams - Colorado Springs, Portland, Salt Lake, and Tacoma - in four-game series at Greer Stadium. The Sounds will travel to each of the four Pacific Southern clubs - Fresno, Las Vegas, Reno, and Sacramento - for four-game sets.

Season tickets, mini-plans, and group outing packages are currently on sale. Contact the Sounds box office at 615-690-HITS (4487) or visit the team's website at www.nashvillesounds.com to order or for further details. Individual game tickets will be available for purchase in March.

The 2010 season will be the Sounds' 13th year in the Pacific Coast League and their sixth as the Milwaukee Brewers' top affiliate. The 2010 promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
