Indiana Ice News Release
CASINO REPORT: In their first meeting since the East Division Finals back in late April, the Indiana Ice and Green Bay Gamblers each earned a win this past weekend.
Blackjack Friday- Anthony Bitetto's unassisted marker with just four seconds left in overtime lifted Indiana to a 3-2 victory on Friday evening. Shane Berschbach and Brian Ferlin also scored goals, while Max Cook handed out two assists. Cab Morris was victorious in net with 28 saves
Jackpot Saturday- Green Bay goaltender Steve Summerhays continued his two-year mastery of the Ice as the second-year netminder turned back all 24 shots he faced in the 3-0 Gamblers victory. Summerhays is now 3-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .938 SV% in three career games against Indiana. Morris played well once again for the Ice as he stopped 28 of 30 shots in defeat.
HAIL THE CAB: Goaltender Cab Morris is enjoying a nice three-game stretch in net for the Icemen. In three starts between the pipes, the first-year USHL netminder is 2-1-0 with a 1.62 GAA and a .935 SV%. He enters this week's action tied for first in the league in SV% and second in GAA.
ROAD MORE TRAVELLED: With just one home game so far this season, the Ice has played the least amount of home games in the entire USHL and will play eight of their first 11 contests away from the "Circle City." Indiana gets a dose of home medicine this weekend with games Friday and Saturday night against the Waterloo Black Hawks from Pepsi Coliseum.
KILLING THEM SOFTLY: With seven more penalty kills over the weekend, the Ice maintained their stronghold in the penalty killing department as the club leads the USHL with an impressive 95.5% (21/22) clip. Indy's only blemish was Max Tardy's power play goal for Tri-City on 10/9/09 in Kearney, NE.
NOTEBOOK: Brian Ferlin scored his first goal as a member of the Ice on Friday....The Ice is just 13th in the USHL on the power play (2-21, 9.5%) and has not scored a power play goal since the regular season opener at Youngstown (10/3/09)...Two of the team's first six games have gone to overtime.
