JackHammers Shortstop to Wed at Silver Cross Field

JOLIET, IL - Almost all of the Joliet JackHammers players have headed home and gotten back to their off season routines, but one player will be returning to Silver Cross Field this weekend for one of the biggest days of his life - his wedding!
Shortstop Kevin Rios will marry fiancé Melissa Krupp this Sunday, October 4 at 1:00pm. The couple has decided to open the ceremony to the public. The gates will open at 12:30pm and for a $5 admission, fans are invited to sit in the stands to watch the couple exchange vows. All proceeds from the day will go directly to the Rios'.
"Think of it as a way to replace the dollar dance!" says Kelly Sufka, Vice President of Operations and Marketing for the JackHammers. "We are so happy for Kevin and Melissa. Silver Cross Field is such a beautiful setting for a wedding and we hope other couples keep us in mind when planning their weddings as well."
Rios, originally from California and now living in Winfield with Krupp, popped the question May 17. "It was Melissa's idea to get married at home plate. Baseball has been such a big part of our lives, we thought it would be cool to have the wedding at Silver Cross Field." When asked if he'll wear his uniform instead of a tux, Rios says, "That will be a game time decision."
