Patriots come out on Top 6-2

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the York Revolution 6-2 before 5,076 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

York took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Shortstop Liu Rodriguez singled and scored on an RBI double by center fielder Aharon Eggleston. Third baseman Matt Padgett plated Eggleston with a sacrifice to left field.

Somerset took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Left fielder Jon Nelson drew a walk and moved to third on a fielder's choice and an error that allowed third baseman Elliott Ayala to reach safely. Center fielder Sean Smith then drove home Nelson with an RBI single. Shortstop Anthony Granato followed with an RBI single, right fielder Noah Hall had a sacrifice fly, and catcher Travis Anderson drove in the final run of the inning on an RBI groundout to make the score 4-2.

The Patriots added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ayala singled and moved to third on a ground rule double off Smith's bat. After Granato drew a walk to load the bases, Hall drew a bases loaded walk to plate Ayala and make the score 5-2.

Somerset extended the lead with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Granato doubled and scored on an RBI single by Hall for a 6-2 lead.

Patriots starter Chris Buglovsky (8-2) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on six hits in seven innings pitched. York starter Jesse Freeman (0-3) suffered the loss, allowing five runs, three earned, on five hits in 3.2 innings pitched.

The 2009 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday, September 20th with a 1:35 pm game against the York Revolution. The game is Fan Appreciation Day with Baseball Bingo (1st 2,000 Fans).
