Kastles Players 19-1 at US Open

September 7, 2009 - World TeamTennis (WTT) Washington Kastles

While Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer, these are big days for the Kastles players who have compiled an incredible 19-1 record so far at the US Open. Represented by Serena Williams, Leander Paes, Rennae Stubbs and Nadia Petrova, the Kastles are in the quarterfinals of Women's Singles (Williams, Petrova), Women's Doubles (Williams, Stubbs, Petrova) and Mixed Doubles (Stubbs, Paes), and in the round of 16 of Men's Doubles (Paes).

Monday features a very interesting match for Kastles fans as Kastles Doubles stars Stubbs (w/Lindstedt) and Paes (w/Black) face each other in Mixed Doubles in the fourth match on the Grandstand court. While in other Monday action, Paes and partner Lukas Dlouhy start play in the Grandstand at 11 a.m. against Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer for a spot in the quarterfinals and Nadia Petrova faces the surprise of the tournament, 17-year old American Melanie Oudin, in one of the day's featured matches on Arthur Ashe Stadium Court.

The second week at the Open promises to be another good one for the Kastle faithful. Serena has been dominant in all of her matches as she goes for her second straight US Open singles title and continues the high level of play that she showed when she wore her Kastles uniform in July. Out of their combined 20 matches, Leander, Rennae, Nadia and Serena have not only won all but one match, but they have lost only three sets along the way.
