Crystal Palace Baltimore News Release

August 13th 2009 - Baltimore, MD - The American arm of Crystal Palace's Professional Development Academy is pleased to announce that one of its top players has been dispatched from the USA to England to train with the UK club. The Crystal Palace Academy is widely regarded as one of the best youth soccer development programs in Europe.

Defensive midfielder Eli Dennis, aged seventeen, has just finished his first year with the US-based Palace academy. He has also been a member of the National Regional Team for his age group. Dennis will spend August 10 to August 17 training with the London club in order to further develop his already highly promising talent.

Crystal Palace USA Academy Director, Matt Smith, remarked: "Eli's a tenacious player who has shown tremendous improvement over the last couple of years. He was outstanding in our U-17 academy game against the Bermuda national team."

"He's been training with our pro team and he's done well," stated Jim Cherneski, Palace's Sporting Director who also serves as Chief Scout for Crystal Palace Football Club in North America. "So we felt it was a good time to send him over to England. It's exciting for him and for other players in our area to have the chance to go and play with a major club in Europe."

Dennis is expected to return to the Baltimore area next week. Any further announcements will be made at that time.
