Schaumburg Flyers News Release

The Schaumburg Flyers Minor League Baseball Team announces a new partnership with Argosy University for the 2009 baseball season to incorporate the mental and psychological aspects of being a successful athlete and the development of a winning team.

Yogi Berra once said, "90 percent of the game is half mental." In this new corporate partnership - unprecedented for a minor league team - Vice President of Academic Affairs and PSY Dr. Tracy Robinson and his team of sports psychologists, will be working directly with Flyers Manager Mike Busch and the Flyers players on the mental aspects of game readiness and how to achieve success as a team.

"In any organization that I've ever been with at a major league level, we have employed somebody in the field of sports psychology, but I've never seen it yet at a minor league level. The mental approach to a job where you are a success if you fail seven times out of ten is difficult, and being able to work with somebody like Dr. Robinson and his staff would definitely be a benefit to our players," said Flyers Manager Mike Busch.

"Sports Psychology is used throughout major league baseball. We will help the ball players work through batting slumps, overcome throwing problems and improve overall performance," said Dr. Robinson.

The Schaumburg campus is one of 19 Argosy University campus locations in 13 states and an online program. It is a private academic institution dedicated to providing undergraduate and graduate degrees to students in a supportive learning environment where academic knowledge is enriched by the acquisition of interpersonal skills vital to success.

The Schaumburg Flyers are a member of the Northern League, an Independent Professional Baseball League established in 1993. The Flyers home game opener is May 22nd, featuring new amenities to the park, the new SYN Vodka Energy Team debut and a post-game fireworks display. Tickets are on sale now by visiting www.flyersbaseball.com or calling 847-891-2255.
