Sportsnet To Broadcast Nutrilite Canadian Championship

MONTREAL - The Canadian Soccer Association announced Wednesday that Sportsnet will broadcast the second edition of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship live across Canada, featuring two Montreal Impact games: May 27 against the Whitecaps in Vancouver at Swangard Stadium (10:30 pm) and June 18 against Toronto FC, at Saputo Stadium, in Montreal (8 pm).

Note that the June 17 game in Montreal was rescheduled to June 18 to ensure a live broadcast. Montreal earned the right to host the decisive game after winning the 2008 tournament.

In this tournament each team will play four games, a home and away against each opponent. The Impact will play its first game in the tournament May 13 (8 pm) against Toronto FC at BMO Field, in Toronto, and the following week against the Whitecaps at Saputo Stadium, May 20 (8 pm).

The first-place club will win the 2009 Voyageurs Cup and will represent Canada in the next edition of the CONCACAF Champions League.

FC NEW YORK TO JOIN USL FIRST DIVISION

The United Soccer Leagues (USL) First Division announced Wednesday an expansion team in New York for 2010. With the arrival of FC New York and the Tampa Bay Rowdies, the league will total 13 teams. The FC New York has an agreement with Hofstra University to use James M. Shuart Stadium, which holds 13,000 seats.
