Toronto Rock News Release
TORONTO - The Toronto Rock acquired veteran goaltender Steve Dietrich in a deal with the Edmonton Rush this afternoon in exchange for a 2009 NLL Entry Draft second round selection. Terms of the deal were not disclosed due to club policy.
Dietrich, a Kitchener, Ontario native, holds the distinction of being the only goaltender to earn the NLL's Most Valuable Player award (2006) and was named NLL Goaltender of the Year in back to back years for 2005 and 2006.
The Buffalo Bandits acquired Dietrich in a 2001 trade with the Rochester Knighthawks and Dietrich played with the Bandits for six seasons before being traded to the Calgary Roughnecks for the 2008 season. A trade with the Roughnecks sent Dietrich to Edmonton where he played in ten games with the Rush this season and recorded 198 saves.
The NLL trade deadline was this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. EST.
The Rock host the Rochester Knighthawks at the Air Canada Centre this Saturday March 21st at 7:00 p.m.
