Halifax Rainmen News Release

(Halifax, N.S.) Halifax Rainmen Owner Andre Levingston named Les Berry as the team's new Head Coach today. Berry, a Halifax native, took the Acadia Axemen men's basketball team from a 2-17 record in 2005 to the conference championships in 2006-07 and the CIS final in 2008.

"I am very excited for Les to head up our team," said Levingston. "He has a proven record and the experience that I believe can take our team all the way to the play-offs."

Berry has 11 years experience coaching basketball at a college level. He is the two-time recipient of Nova Scotia's Basketball Coach of the Year. In 2002-2003, Les was coaching the women's team at King's College and filling the role as assistant coach with the Saint Mary's University men's varsity team simultaneously.

Berry went on to Brandon University in 2003-2004 where he headed up the women's team. The following year he moved to lead the Bobcat's men's team to a 15-5 record, grabbing 1st place overall in the Canada West Conference.

"I am ready to get back in the game. I believe the Rainmen have the talent to go all the way, and this was just the project I was looking for to restart my coaching career," said Berry. "I am grateful for the opportunity and I will give it everything I've got. Rainmen basketball fans deserve the best team possible."
