AHEARN JOINS SPURS TEAMMATE IAN MAHINMI IN AUSTIN:
The San Antonio Spurs assigned guard Blake Ahearn to the team's NBA Development League affiliate Austin Toros. Ahearn, who was the NBA D-League's first Gatorade Call-Up of the season on Nov. 16, is the eighth NBA player to be assigned to an NBA D-League team this season and the first player in NBA D-League history to be called-up and assigned in the same season.
PERFORMER OF THE WEEK:
Iowa's Courtney Sims is the first NBA D-League Performer of The Week for the new season after averaging 22.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 8.0 blocks for the undefeated Energy. Sims is also the first Energy player to earn Performer of the Week honors.
MONDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Monday's games
Erik Daniels scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Erie BayHawks defeated the Austin Toros.
All five starters for the Erie BayHawks scored in double figures including Ivan Harris with 16 points, Maurice Rice with 15, Oliver Lafayette and Jackie Manuel both had 14.
Blake Ahearn had 19 points on 5-of-16 shooting in his first game since being assigned to the Toros.
Marcus Williams added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Austin
Boston Celtics assignee J.R. Giddens led all scorers with 34 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished six assists. Fellow Celtics assignee Bill Walker chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds as well.
Dontell Jefferson contributed 25 points, four assists and four steals.
Richard Hendrix, on assignment from the Golden State Warriors recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Nick Lewis also netted a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS...a look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games
3 players with D-League experience competed in two NBA games last night, one as a starter. Here are the highlights:
Miami's Daequan Cook finished with 11 points and five rebounds and in 32 minutes.
C.J. Watson scored eight points, pulled down four rebounds and grabbed four steals for the Golden State Warriors.
Anthony Johnson, of the Orlando Magic, contributed six points along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
