Austin's SIFL Team Unveils Team Name and Logo

Austin - The Southern Indoor Football League team in Austin announced today that its nickname will be "Turfcats", a powerful name that will show why the team plays the fastest game on turf. The Turfcats logo was designed by River City Sportswear from Austin, Texas in order to promote local business and utilize local artists and businesses.
The Turfcats will kickoff their home opener in April at the Travis County Expo Center in Austin, Texas.
"We are excited to share the good news of our team and our commitment to this community," said team Vice-President/General Manager Ronald Oswalt.
Austin is the capital of the state of Texas and the county seat of Travis County. Situated in Central Texas and it is the fourth-largest city in Texas and the 16th-largest in the United States of America, as well as the third fastest growing large city in the nation from 2000 to 2006. As of the 2007 U.S. Census estimate, Austin has a population of 743,074. The city is the cultural and economic center of the Greater Austin metropolitan area with a population of about 1.6 million people.
Austin has emerged as a center for technology and business; it was selected as the No. 1 Best Big City in "Best Places to Live" by Money magazine in 2006, and the "Greenest City in America" by MSN.
Game uniforms featuring the team nickname (Turfcats) on home jerseys and city name (Austin) on road uniforms will be unveiled at a later date. In addition to the distinctive SIFL and individual team logos embroidered on the uniform.
The team will also focus on the Keep Austin Green theme with the team's official colors being Armadillo Gold, Recycling Green, and Natural White.
The Southern Indoor Football League includes teams from Houma (LA), Houston (TX), Lafayette (LA), Lake Charles (LA), Pasadena (TX) and the Austin Turfcats (TX).
