Ownership of Mid-Atlantic Hockey League moves to consortium

August 20, 2008 - Mid-Atlantic Hockey League (MAHL) News Release

CANTON, OH - The Mid-Atlantic Hockey League announced today that the ownership and operation of the league has been assumed by a consortium of investors and MAHL team owners. The shift in control and ownership is effective immediately.

Andrew Miller, president of BCR Entertainment and owner of the MAHL's Battle Creek Revolution team, is now the principle owner of the MAHL and will own and operate the league with a consortium of new owners.

The shift in ownership marks the conclusion of the ownership tenure of Andrew Haines the president and founder of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League. With the MAHL preparing for its second season on the ice Haines was ready to pass the baton on to Miller.

"This has been a terrific learning experience for me in owning and operating a start-up hockey league," said Haines. "But the MAHL needs new blood and fresher ideas to move through the upcoming season. Andrew Miller is the person I believe can take the league to that next level."

Miller was on hand for the finalizing of the agreement and announcement at the MAHL's offices in Canton.

"We believe the MAHL is in a great position to make an impact at the single A level this year and our commitment to this league and the sport is solidified with this purchase," said Miller. "Our progress in the region and the success of recent tryout camps convinced us to move forward and agree to this purchase."

Haines will form an investment group to purchase the MAHL's South Shore Shooters in Indiana.

Miller stated that the MAHL will release updated information concerning the upcoming 2008-2009 regular season schedule and final team alignments for the MAHL's second season.

"We have some big plans for the restructuring of the MAHL going forward and we will release that information as the ownership group and league officials finalize the plans," said Miller.

The MAHL's 2008-2009 regular season begins in November.
