Boston Blazers to select one unprotected player from each club in Expansion Draft on July 24th
Published on July 9, 2008 under Major League Lacrosse (MLL) News Release
The Boston Blazers will continue to build their roster on July 24th in the Expansion Draft, when they select one unprotected player from each of the other twelve clubs. The lists of each teams' protected and unprotected players were announced earlier today. Clubs were given the option of either protecting one goaltender and 13 runners, or two goaltenders and 10 runners.
Notable names among the unprotected players include Buffalo defenseman Pat McCready, Colorado goaltender Chris Levis and Philadelphia transition player Jon Christmas.
McCready is among the unprotected players who are also unrestricted free agents. Any unrestricted free agent selected by Boston would have to be designated as a franchise player for the Blazers to keep the player from hitting the free agent market. Unrestricted free agents among the Unprotected Players are noted with an asterisk (*) next to their name.
The Blazers have already acquired All-Star forward Dan Dawson and veteran forward Peter Veltman.
No team may lose more than one of its players in the Expansion Draft. The Expansion Draft takes place on Thursday, July 24th at 2pm Eastern. Results will be posted live at the league's official website, NLL.com.
