OurSports Central announces AFL Players of the Week

Dallas Desperados wide receiver Will Pettis, San Jose SaberCats linebacker Steve Watson and New Orleans VooDoo kicker Jonathan Ruffin were named the OurSports Central Arena Football League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for week fourteen of the AFL season.

Pettis had 13 receptions for 118 yards, 4 touchdowns, one rushing score and one passing touchdown in the Desperados' 68-52 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators.

Watson finished with three sacks in the SaberCats' 66-56 victory over the Los Angeles Avengers.

Ruffin was 11-11 on extra points, 2-2 on field goals (45 and 31-yards) and three touchbacks on kickoffs in the VooDoo's 83-61 victory over the Columbus Destroyers.

Other players considered for Offensive honors were Tampa Bay FB Torrance Marshall, Georgia QB Chris Greisen, Chicago WR Donovan Morgan, San Jose QB Mark Grieb and New York QB Aaron Garcia.

Others considered for Defensive award were New Orleans DB Anthony Floyd, Orlando DB Kenny McEntyre, Arizona DL Dustin Barno, Arizona DB Isaiah Trufant, and San Jose DL Ron Jones.

Other players considered for Special Team honors included Colorado's Chad Owens (ten returns for a 22.8 avg. including one returned 56-yards for a touchdown), Georgia's Carlos Martinez (8-8 on extra points), San Jose's A.J. Haglund (7-7 on extra points and a 34-yard field goal), Utah's J'Sharlon Jones (five returns for 105 yards, including one returned 56-yards for a touchdown), and New York's Steve Azar (10-10 on extra points and a 51-yard field goal). Week Ten - Cleveland's Marlion Jackson (offensive), Orlando's Kenny McEntyre (defensive), Orlando ‘s John Vaughn (special teams)
