Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks were finally rewarded for their effort Sunday afternoon at Clear Channel Stadium. In front of another big crowd of 2, 217, Adam Mills hurled a strong game and the bullpen closed it out as Lancaster defeated Lake Elsinore 4-2.

Mills became the first JetHawks pitcher to go seven innings in a game this year. He retired the first five batters he faced and did not allow a run until the fourth inning. By the time the Storm scored their two runs in the fourth inning, the JetHawks already had all the runs they would need.

Storm starter Drew Miller helped the JetHawks take the lead in the third inning. After Argenis Diaz singled to start the frame, Lancaster hitters drew three straight walks. A wild pitch, passed ball, ground out and sacrifice fly pushed across three runs.

The bullpen pitched well to hold the lead. Brian Steinocher delivered a perfect inning and T.J. Large struck out the final three batters to earn his second save. Diaz led the offense with two hits and has now hit safely in a season-high five straight games.

The JetHawks continue a seven-game homestand Monday night at Clear Channel Stadium. Chris Jones (1-2) will start for Lancaster against Storm pitcher Nathan Culp (2-0). The game starts at 7:00 with the pre-game show on Magic 1340 and www.JetHawks.com beginning at 6:45. It is a "Feed Your Face Monday" at Clear Channel Stadium.
