April 10, 2008 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

CLEARWATER, F.L. (April 10, 2008) - Whit Robbins provided the only offense needed on Thursday night with a two-out, two-run blast to right in the seventh inning giving the Fort Myers Miracle a 2-0 win over the Clearwater Threshers at Bright House Field. Miracle starter Deolis Guerra and relievers Matt Fox and Rob Delaney combined on the five-hit shutout.

Wilson Ramos kept the Miracle seventh alive with a two-out walk allowing for Robbins to come through with his two-run dinger, off of a Carlos Monsterios fastball, for the lone runs of the night. Monasterios would finish the night tossing seven innings, allowing the two runs on two hits in the loss.

Clearwater had several chances offensively at the plate on Thursday night unable to cash in. In the second, Matt Spencer would try and stretch a base hit into a double only to be thrown out at second base by Miracle right-fielder Rene Tosoni. Spencer would have eventually scored in the inning on a wild pitch had Tosoni not come up with the big throw earlier in the frame.

The second opportunity for the Threshers came around in the fifth as a fielding error by Brian Dinkelman loaded the bases and kept the inning alive for clean up hitter Gus Milner. Guerra would get a pop up out of Milner to Dinkelman at second ending the threat.

Another strong outing by the Miracle bullpen kept the Threshers off-balance and scoreless through nine innings Thursday night. Fox and Delaney each tossed a pair of innings giving up one hit, a walk and a strikeout in their respective outings. Fox picked up the win in relief while Delaney snagged save number three on the year.

After finishing the road trip at 3-3, the Miracle will return to Hammond Stadium for six-games in seven nights beginning Friday against the first-place Dunedin Blue Jays. The 6:05 p.m. contest will have RHP Tyler Robertson (0-1, 3.60) start for the Miracle against the Jays' RHP Kenny Rodriguez (1-0, 0.00). Rodriguez threw a one-hitter in his previous outing last Sunday against the Miracle in Dunedin. Friday's match-up can be heard on 1440am WMYR and 1660am WCNZ beginning with the pre-game show at 5:50p.m.

Friday night's game will feature the first "Happy Hour Friday" of the season sponsored by Bud Select, Shoeless Joe's Sports Café and B103.9. Free hot dogs, chips/salsa and $1 beer/soda will be served from 6-7 p.m. A post-game concert featuring Guns N' Roses tribute band "Appetite for Destruction" will take place immediately following the final out.
