LOWELL, MA - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the World Champion Boston Red Sox, in conjunction with 980 WCAP AM, the radio home of the Spinners, have announced that Ken Cail will become the new voice of Spinners baseball.

A life-long Red Sox fan, Cail, a Melrose native, has worked in radio for over 30 years, with stops along the way at WBZ in Boston, WNNH, NH's Oldies 99 in Concord, WGIR in Manchester and WTPL-FM in Concord, NH where he currently co-hosts a morning talk show.

A two-time New Hampshire "Sportscaster of the Year," Cail is no stranger to the Lowell market, having served as the original P.A. announcer for the Lowell Lock Monsters ten years ago.

"We're delighted to have Ken Cail become the voice of the Lowell Spinners as the Spinners rejoin 980 WCAP" said Managing Partner Clark Smidt. "I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with Ken since his days as producer of The Guy Manilla's Calling All Sports on WBZ. Ken is a great professional, true sports expert, super dad and a real quality person. He sounds outstanding on the radio and will complement The Spinners position as the nation's premiere Minor League Baseball team."

Cail, a former State Representative in New Hampshire, has since served as the radio voice of the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League since their inception and Cail is moving up to the Affiliated Lowell Spinners of the Red Sox organization after spending 10 seasons in Independent League baseball.

"We are excited to have such an experienced radio personality as the voice of Spinners baseball," said Lowell Spinners Vice President and General Manager, Tim Bawmann. "We are certain fans throughout the Merrimack Valley will enjoy listening to Ken call the games for the Red Sox of the future. He certainly has a big league voice."

The new local ownership of 980 WCAP, Merrimack Valley Radio, LLC, serves the entire Merrimack Valley with a 24 hour 5,000 watt signal, the most powerful AM north of Boston. The Lowell Spinners are back on 980 WCAP after a one year absence. The Lowell Spinners and Ken Cail return to 980 WCAP June 17, for the start of the Spinners 13th season.
