Veterans include, Nickole, Valerie, Stephanie, Tari, Maria, Debbie, Amber, Ashley, Marlena, Kirsten, Megan and Rachelle. This year's rookies are Jessica and Catie.
With the 2008 season right around the corner the Lightning Girls have teamed up with Karate America for their karate and conditioning training for 2008. The team began training at Karate America three weeks ago and will continue the training throughout the season.
Raul Meza, owner of Karate America, is excited about the opportunity to train the region's best professional dance team. He says "Everyone is always looking for a new way to get fit, so why not learn how to defend yourself while getting in shape. The Lightning Girls are doing awesome! They are sore every class, but the good sore". Mr. Meza instructs The Lightning Girls on proper physical conditioning as well as the correct technique in Mixed Martial Arts.
Lightning Girl Director Tatum Keller says, "Mr. Meza is a great mentor for The Lightning Girls. Not only is he teaching them the art of Mixed Martial Arts, he is also teaching the girls how to work together and push each other to become closer as a team. It's been exciting for myself and the girls".
Karate America is located at 3612 Southeastern Ave. in Sioux Falls and offers numerous courses in taekwando and karate as well as self defense.
The Lightning Girls are busy making numerous appearances throughout the Sioux Empire Community before the start of the season. To book The Lightning Girls at your next event call (605) 332-4225 or e-mail tatum@siouxfallsstorm.com.
