Southern Illinois Miners News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have purchased the contract of 2007 Miners all-star pitcher Brian Logan. The 21-year-old lefty went 2-1 with a 3.26 ERA in 28 relief appearances with the Miners in 2007. He recorded 35 strikeouts in 30.1 innings with the Miners.
Logan will report to White Sox spring training in Arizona where he will be designated for assignment for the 2008 season.
Along with Tim Dorn and Eric Harryman, Logan is now the third player from the Miners 2007 team to advance to a major league organization. He is the 10th of Miners Manager Mike Pinto's players to sign with an organization in his three seasons of managing.
"This is a great opportunity for Brian to get back into an organization," Pinto said. "I couldn't be happier for him. He called me Thursday afternoon and thanked us for the chance to play here last season. I hope he will be joined by many others over the year. That's why they come here."
Logan was one of six Miners to appear in the 2007 Frontier League All-Star Game. He spent his rookie year of 2006 with the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
The Miners home opener is scheduled for Saturday, May 24 at 7:05 p.m. For the latest Miners news and updates, visit www.southernillinoisminers.com.
