Chill Break the Seal on First Ever Roster Spots

November 23, 2007 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Edmonton Chill News Release

The Edmonton Chill have begun to assemble their team for the inaugural 2008 season and are pleased to announce their first three players, all of whom are Edmonton products.

Currently under contract are: Jermaine Bucknor - a 6'7" forward who played his collegiate ball with the University of Richmond Spiders where he led the team in scoring and steals and was the team's second leading rebounder in his final year at the NCAA D-1 school. Jermaine is playing professionally in France and locally at Ross Sheppard High.

Stephen Sir - at 6'6" and 225 lbs. Stephen will bring his outstanding shooting touch home to Edmonton and play for his father, Chill head coach Paul Sir, from the shooting guard spot. A starter at Northern Arizona University, he set an NCAA record for three-point shooting percentage and, during his senior year, was named a Big Sky Conference 2nd-team All-Star. Stephen is currently playing in the Swiss League's first division.

JR Patrick - a 2006 IBL All-Star with the Eugene Chargers, he just welcomed a new baby and has put his pro-career on hold until the new year, when he will return to play in either Spain or France. The 6'4" 205 pounder cut his chops right here in Edmonton before following in the footsteps of Canada's best basketball player, Steve Nash, by attending Santa Clara University.

These three local products form the early foundation for what should be a terrific squad that hopes to establish new expectations for expansion teams and bring post-season sports back to the City of Champions.
