Portland Lumberjax News Release
PORTLAND, October, 2, 2007 - The Portland LumberJax have re-acquired forward Scott Stewart from the new Boston franchise in exchange for a 2008 second round selection and a conditional 2009 fourth round selection in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft, as was announced today by Head Coach/General Manager Derek Keenan.
Stewart was a member of the Jax during the inaugural season in 2006. He appeared in four games, scoring two goals and adding two assists before being traded to the Minnesota Swarm for forward Ryder Bateman on February 2, 2006.
After finishing the 2006 season in Minnesota and playing for the Swarm in 2007, he was selected by Boston in the NLL Expansion Draft on July 31, 2007 before being traded back to the Jax.
A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Stewart paced the Swarm with 17 goals and 23 assists last season while only spending four minutes in the penalty box.
"We're thrilled to have Scott Stewart back with the Jax," said Keenan. "Scott has gone through a real maturation process in terms of his life and lacrosse play over the last couple of seasons. He will add even more depth to our right side and further enhances our athleticism."
Stewart will be reunited with defenseman Michael Kilby and forward Spencer Martin, two of his teammates with the Swarm last season and several members of the Jax from the 2006 season.
