Salmon Kings add former ECHLer Cooper to the Fish Bowl

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the organization has signed forward Kevin Cooper.

Cooper is a former ECHLer who played the 2004-05 season with both Pee-Dee and Texas. The last two seasons Cooper has played in Europe.

"Kevin is a player that we are counting on to infuse some grit and tenacity into our lineup," Mark Morrison Head Coach said. "He brings a combination of speed and aggression that enables him to forecheck relentlessly."

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Cooper played 27 games in the United Hockey League (UHL) last season with the Muskegon Fury. During that time he notched 16 points (8g-8a) and accumulated 25 minutes in penalties. In seven games of playoff action he scored one goal and had one assist.

The 26-year-old also played four games last season with Arboga IFK in Sweden, Division One. He collected two goals during the brief stint.

The Mississauga, Ontario native played four years of NCAA Division III hockey at Middlebury College. He played in 114 games and accrued 99 goals and 60 assists for 159 points.

The Salmon Kings will kick off their fourth season in the ECHL in Idaho on Oct 19, 2007, and will host the Las Vegas Wranglers for the Home Opener Series on Oct 26 and 27.
