Ice Bats Acquire three-time All-Star Jason Tessier from Riverkings

Austin Ice Bats News Release
(Austin, TX) - The Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League announce they've acquired and signed All-Star defensemen Jason Tessier from the Mississippi Riverkings, in exchange for Aaron Davis and Marty Doyle. Tessier is a three-time CHL All-Star and five year veteran of the CHL who also spent time with El Paso and Rio Grande Valley before his time with the Riverkings. "We're excited to acquire Jason. He's one of the top defensemen in the league, and he's one of those guys that gives it all every night. We're going to look to him to lead our club," said Ice Bats coach, Brent Hughes.
Last season for the Riverkings, Tessier scored two goals and had 22 assists in 33 games. Meanwhile for the Ice Bats, Aaron Davis had 10 goals and 35 assists in 43 games; Marty Doyle had two goals and three assists in 27 games. Tessier expressed, "I'm pretty excited to come down there. I've been playing against the Ice Bats for a while. They've always been a good team, especially with Brent Hughes as the coach. I'm hoping to achieve there what I achieved in Memphis last season." Last year the Mississippi Riverkings made it to the CHL Conference Finals before losing to the Colorado Eagles.
