
Plymouth Whalers Hockey Schools - A Cool Place to Learn

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP - Hockey players looking to get a couple of strides ahead of the competition for the 2007-08 season can learn while having fun this summer with the Ontario Hockey League Champion Plymouth Whalers.
The Whalers will be teaching several different one-week schools starting July 30. Led by Hockey School Director George Daniel and a number of the Whaler players, the camps promise to be fun and informative.

July 30 - August 3 9 - 10:50 am Beginner/Mini-Mite $250
Beginner/Mini-Mite (Ages 5-8) This five day school is for players that have little or no organized hockey experience; previous skating lessons required. Skills include: Forward and backward skating, stopping, basic stick handling, proper shooting and passing techniques and scrimmage. Full equipment is required. Participants will be enrolled in the Whalers Kids Club for the 2007-08 season.
July 30 - August 3 11 am - 12:50 pm Power Skating $250
Power Skating (Ages 10-12) This five day school is for beginner and intermediate players, designed to reinforce proper skating techniques. Skills include: Starts, stops, edges, crossovers, pivots, agility and speed training.
July 30 - August 3 1 - 2:50 pm Squirt Elite $250
Squirt Elite (Ages 9-10) This five day school is geared for the accelerated player looking for a combination of on-ice as well as off-ice drills and training. Professional instructors will conduct a high intensity on-ice workout followed by dry-land conditioning with Dennis MacDonald, Whalers' Athletic Therapist.
August 6 - 10 9 am - 3:50 pm All Day School $399
All Day School (Group A Ages 7-9) (Group B Ages 10-12) This five day school will balance on-ice instruction with off-ice development. The focus will be power skating, stick handling, shooting, passing and game situations. Off-ice instruction will work on balance and coordination. The school will enhance conditioning and utilize athletic games to promote teamwork.
August 13 - 17 9 - 10:50 am or 2 - 3:50 pm Mite Preseason Tune-up $250
Mite Preseason Tune-up (Ages 7-8) This five day school focuses on power skating, agility, balance, stops and starts and game situations. All instruction is on-ice. This class will also help to improve fundamental stickhandling and puck skills.
August 13 - 17 12 - 1:50 pm Squirt Preseason Tune-up $250
Squirt Preseason Tune-up (Ages 9-10) This five day school focuses on power skating, agility, balance, stops and starts, stickhandling, and game situations. All instruction is on-ice. This session will serve as a tune-up for all players getting ready for fall try-outs and draft skates.
August 20 - 24 11 am - 2:20 pm High School $300
High School (Ages 14-18) A challenging camp designed to enhance the players' overall skill set. Players will be able to utilize the Whalers' training facility including the weight room and locker room. Instructors include the Whalers' coaching staff as well as high school coaches. Dennis MacDonald, Whalers' Athletic Therapist, will design an off-ice conditioning program and conduct physical testing of all participants. The first 40 applicants will be accepted for this school.
