August 29, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release

Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the signing of center Alexander Hult. The 21-year-old was an eighth-round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Hult, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Borlange, Sweden, played last season for HK Dmitrov in Russia and collected 10 points (4-6-10) in 24 games. He also appeared in four games for Mora in the Swedish League and had three goals and two assists.

Overall he has appeared in 198 professional games, mostly for Sweden-based clubs. His pro totals include 159 points (46-59-105) and 270 PIM. Hult has 16 games of experience in Sweden's top division of play as a member of HV71 and Djugardens and another 18 in Norway's top league as a member of Comet. The bulk of his experience has been with Tier 2 clubs.

Hult had the honor of playing for Team Sweden at the 2004 World Junior Hockey Championships, where he posted two assists in six games.

"Alex is a player with a lot of upside," said Killer Bees Head Coach Paul Fixter. "Making the jump from Europe to North America is tough. At 21, he is still learning and I'm excited to have the opportunity to help him break into the North American game."

The Killer Bees have announced 12 player signings so far.

The Killer Bees open up their fourth season of CHL action on the weekend of October 20 and 21, 2006 vs. the Arizona Sundogs. The team will also play a preseason schedule to be announced. Season tickets and corporate sponsorships are available now by calling (956) 843-PUCK. Stay tuned all summer to killerbeehockey.com for the latest news and transactions as they become official!
