Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that defenseman Kurtis Dulle will return to the team for the 2006-07 season. As a rookie in 2005-06, Dulle scored 16 points (8-8-16) and appeared in all 64 regular season games. He added two assists in six playoff games.
"I'm looking forward to another season in the Valley" said Dulle. "I feel like I know the league coming in this season and I'm confident I can be a solid contributor."
A 5-foot-11, 196-pound blueliner, Dulle began his pro career with Victoria (ECHL) and played 17 games for the Salmon Kings at the end of the 2004-05 season. Previously, the 26-year-old from Craik, Saskatchewan, played at the University of Regina from 2000-05 and was a three-time Canada West All Star with the Cougars.
He finished fourth in scoring among defensemen last season and was among team scoring leaders throughout his university career. Dulle earned an invite to training camp with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage last season before being assigned to Rio Grande.
"Kurtis gives us an additional offensive threat on the blue line," said Killer Bees head coach Tony Martino. "It's good to have another returning player who knows the league. He had a good rookie campaign and will continue to grow with us this coming season. I expect he'll leader on and off the ice."
The Killer Bees have announced seven player signings and will announce signings every Tuesday over the course of the summer. As often as possible, those players will be guests on ESPN 1240's Sportsline (4-6 p.m.) the day of the announcement.
Opening weekend has been set for October 20 and 21, 2006. The complete CHL schedule is expected to be released in early August. Season tickets and corporate sponsorships are available now by calling (956) 843-PUCK. Stay tuned all summer to killerbeehockey.com for the latest news and transactions as they become official!
