Charlotte Eagles News Release
Charlotte Eagles Professional Soccer announced today the signing of Ukrainian forward Andriy Budnyy for the remainder of the 2006 season.
Budnyy, a 5-11 Forward from Chernivtsi, Ukraine, was a First Team All-American at Azusa Pacific University last year where he also earned the 2005 Golden State Athletic Conference and Region II Player of the Year honors. Budnyy had been training with Chivas USA of Major League Soccer before signing with the Eagles. He will look to bolster Charlotte's scoring punch as the Eagles open their U.S. Open Cup round in Wilmington against the Hammerheads this tonight. The winner will go on to host the Atlanta Silverbacks of the USL 1st Division.
If the Charlotte Eagles are able to pull off a victory in Wilmington on Wednesday night, then Charlotte will host the third round match against the Atlanta Silverbacks. The match would be played at UNC Charlotte's Transamerica Field on July 12th. More information on the Eagles pending third round match will be posted on the Charlotte Eagles website (www.CharlotteEagles.com) later tonight.
