Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
Fargo (ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets have announced the dates for their Best-of-Seven North American Hockey League Central Division Finals playoff series against the Southern Minnesota Express.
Southern Minnesota (35-17-6, 76 pts) will have home ice in this series after finishing in first place in the Central Division during the regular season. The FM Jets (34-21-3, 71pts) ended in second place after spending 90% of the regular season in the driver's seat in the Central Division.
Using a 2-2-1-1-1 format, Southern Minnesota will host games one, two and then five and seven if necessary. The FM Jets will be home for games three, four and if necessary, game six.
Southern Minnesota's home games will begin at 7pm, while the FM Jets' home games will start at 7:30pm.
The winner of this series will advance to the NAHL Robertson Cup Finals Tournament May 10-13 in Youngstown, OH.
The FM Jets advanced to the division finals after ousting their arch-rivals the Bismarck Bobcats in four games in the Best-of-Five division semi-finals. Meanwhile, Southern Minnesota was able to outlast a surprisingly Minnesota Blizzard squad in a series that went the full five games.
The FM Jets are in the division finals for the second straight season after winning the NAHL West Division title last year in a four-game sweep of the Billings Bulls.
Interesting, Southern Minnesota -based in Owatonna - will actually not be playing any of their playoff games on their regular home ice. Following the team's final regular season home game on Feb. 17, the ice was removed from the Four Seasons Center in Owatonna. As a result, Southern Minnesota is playing their home playoff games in Fairbault, MN, located roughly ten minutes north of the franchise's home base.
The FM Jets went 4-2-1 against Southern Minnesota this all. All but one of the seven meetings were decided by a single goal. The lone exception was a game that was decided by two goals.
