Indiana Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-The Indiana Ice announced today that the team has acquired goaltender Steve Jakiel from the Lincoln Stars for forward Justin Milo and goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson.

The Santa Clarita, CA native has registered a 10-6-2 record with a 3.38 goals against average and a .887 save percentage this season. Last year he posted a 15-7-2 mark with an impressive 2.55 GAA and .916 save percentage. A former teammate of current Ice forward John Kemp (Arcadia, CA), Jakiel is expected to provide experience between the pipes for the Ice.

"He's won 25 games so far in his USHL career, so he's a proven goaltender," stated Ice Assistant Coach Jack Bowkus. "He's got great size (6-4, 190) and is going to be an asset to this team."

Milo leaves Indianapolis after playing 28 games for the Ice this season. The two-year USHL player contributed eight goals and ten assists for the Ice after posting 27 goals and 17 assists last year for Sioux Falls. Mahoney-Wilson, a 2004 NHL draft pick of the San Jose Sharks, did not appear in a game for the Ice this season.

Jakiel is expected to join the squad for this Saturday's contest against his former team, the Lincoln Stars, at 7 p.m. at the Pepsi Coliseum.

In other news, forward Eric Miller was sent to the Seguin Bruins of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League.
