
Idaho's Josh Davis Earns Third NBA Call-Up This Season, Signs with Phoenix Suns

Boise, ID (January 12, 2006) - Former Continental Basketball Association Most Valuable Player and current Idaho Stampede member, Josh Davis, earned his third NBA call-up of the season, signing a 10-day contract on Monday, Jan. 9, with the Phoenix Suns. His three call-ups this season ties a CBA single-season record held by four others, most recently set by Anthony Goldwire in 2003-04 while with the Yakima Sun Kings.
Davis, who signed with Idaho on Dec. 2, has appeared in three games this season for the Stampede. In those three games he has averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting 47.4 pct. from the field and 40.0 pct. from behind the 3-point arc.
Davis' previous two call-ups this season came Dec. 5 by the Milwaukee Bucks and Dec. 29 by the Houston Rockets. He originally signed with Milwaukee on Oct. 2 before being waived on Nov. 24. He has appeared in five NBA games this season, logging 2.4 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-8 forward began his professional career oversees playing in Italy in 2002-03. In 2003 Davis made his CBA debut with the Stampede, earning the league's Most Valuable Player, Newcomer of the Year and All-League First Team honors while averaging 18.7 points and 9.6 rebounds in 40 games. Davis went on to see action with the Atlanta Hawks (2003-04) and the Philadelphia 76ers (2004-05). He has posted career NBA averages of 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 51 games played.
The call-up marks the sixth this season for the Continental Basketball Association, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary season. In addition to Davis' three call-ups; the Gary Steelheads' Randy Holcomb was called up by the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 5, Sioux Falls Skyforce rookie Stephen Graham was called up by Houston on Dec. 11, and the Michigan Mayhem's Darrick Martin was called-up on Nov. 16 by Toronto.
