Reading Express News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Express of the American Indoor Football League (AIFL) announced today that Ollie Guidry will be the teams first Head Coach and General Manager.
"After reviewing over 100 resumes, I feel that we have found the best fit for our organization." said team owner Andrew Haines. "Having a winning team is a must, and Coach Guidry has the experience to get us there."
Twice Guidry has coached first-year indoor league teams to titles the Tennessee ThunderCats in 2001 and the Topeka Coyotes in 2003.
"To win a championship your first year, a lot has to go right," said the 32-year-old Guidry, a native of Dallas. "You have to stay healthy, and you have to get the right players."
He played football at the University of North Texas in Dallas and then for two years in the European Football League.
His coaching résumé includes stops at his alma mater, Division III Heidelberg College, where he was director of football operations and recruiting coordinator; and the Seattle Seahawks, where he was an assistant wide receivers coach in 2000.
For the last two years he was head coach of the Evansville BlueCats of the United Indoor Football League
Guidry already has targeted a few players he'd like to bring to Reading. There also will be an open tryout Friday, Nov. 18, at 8 a.m. at Body Zone.
