8 Will Arrive, 1 Will Survive
Published on February 8, 2005 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
With 70 percent of the 2004-2005 Central Hockey League regular season now complete, attention turns towards the post-season, and the quest for the Ray Miron President's Cup as playoff champions. The CHL has today unveiled the playoff logo (viewable at www.centralhockeyleague.com) and slogan; "8 Will Arrive, 1 Will Survive", for the 04-05 post-season.
Four teams from each conference (each division winner plus two wild cards from each conference) will qualify for the playoffs, and the championship will be awarded to the winner of three best-of-seven game series. With under six weeks remaining in regular season action, only the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in the Northeast have better than a two-point lead in their division race. The Mudbugs, Colorado Eagles and Wichita Thunder are in excellent position to make post-season appearances, with five other clubs currently within seven points of each other battling for the fourth and final playoff position.
The Southern Conference is just as tight, with seven clubs searching for four playoff berths currently entangled within eight points of each other.
The regular season concludes on Sunday March 20th, with the Conference Semi-Finals round opening as early as Wednesday, March 23rd. The Conference Finals series are expected to begin on Friday, April 8th, with the Ray Miron President's Cup Finals getting underway on Friday, April 22nd. Visit the CHL online at www.centralhockeyleague.com for a closer look at playoff positioning and potential matchups for the opening round.

Central Hockey League Performance of the Week
Wichita center Joe Blaznek came up with an outstanding performance in a crucial Northwest Division match up with Colorado on February 5th. Blaznek scored two power play goals in the opening period, assisted on Paul Esdale's game tying marker with just 57 seconds left to play, then set up Chad Mazurak in overtime to give the Thunder a 4-3 win. The victory, in their last head to head meeting of the regular season, moved Wichita to within two points of Colorado in the race for the Northwest Division title.
