Midland, Texas ... the Tall Goose-Egg City

June 26, 2016 - Midland, Texas, is known as the "Tall City" (space and time do not allow an explanation; you'll have to trust us and/or Google it), but the town has transformed into the "goose-egg capital" of the Texas League over the last three days. The 'Hounds' 3-0 shutout win over the San Antonio Missions on Sunday afternoon at Security Bank Ballpark was the third consecutive blanking in the series (see "Stat of the Day," below). Mr. Murphy? Meet Dinelson Lamet

June 26, 2016 - A "Murphy's Law" of baseball is that, on a busy night (fireworks night, for example), the visiting team will steal the home club's thunder with a lop-sided victory ... a backside kicking. In making the transition to the Double-A level with the RockHounds, Seddon struggled out of the gate, giving up 19 runs in his first three appearances (a 17.69 ERA). Since then, he has... Full Story

Go Figure

June 24, 2016 - If you have trouble with the concept that baseball is a "goofy game," consider this. In his first four starts with the RockHounds, Daniel Gossett walked two batters in 22 innings, facing a total of 86 hitters. On Thursday night, he faced 17 San Antonio Missions in three innings and walked seven. Before we rest our case on "goofy" ... the RockHounds not only won the game ... they never trailed. San Antonio's T.J. Weir retired the first two batters he faced, then hit Viosergy Rosa in the foot w... Full Story
