
Youngstown Swish Announces Head Coach

Youngstown, OH. The ABA Youngstown Swish expansion basketball team scheduled to begin play in December today announced that Bob Patton would serve as their head coach. Patton was the former head coach of the WBL's Youngstown Pride.
He has coached at the high school, college and pro level. From 1988 to 1992, Coach Patton was head basketball coach for the Youngstown Pride and won the 1989 and 1990 WBL league championships. During his tenure in the WBL, Coach Patton was the winningest coach and developed several future NBA players such as Tim Legler, Mario Elie, Keith Smart and Mark Wade. In his four years with the Pride, he won 106 games and lost 51.
Coach Patton coached high school basketball in the state of Ohio for 21 years. His high school coaching record finished at 349 victories and 161 losses, including 17 section championships, 4 district championships, 5 district runner-ups and 4 undefeated seasons. He was named twice as Ohio High School Coach of the Year and seven times as Northeast Ohio Coach of the Year.
During his tenure at Liberty High School, in addition to making the state finals in Division 2, he had the longest winning streak in Northeastern Ohio at 63 consecutive regular season games.
