Xplosion Re-sign Tyus

Kalamazoo Xplosion News Release
KALAMAZOO -- The Kalamazoo Xplosion have re-signed linebacker T.J. Tyus and plan to dress the former Central Michigan Chippewa this Friday against the Chicago Slaughter.
Tyus started in all 13 games last season at linebacker for the Xplosion, and was the leading tackler on one of the best defenses in the league. His best single-game performance came in the second game of the year against the now defunct Springfield Stallions, when Tyus intercepted three passes, and returned one 22-yards for a score.
Tyus was named CIFL Defensive Player of the Week two times in 2007, joining defensive back David Gater as the only Xplosion player to be named Player of the Week multiple times.
Xplosion Head Coach Mike Sparks says Tyus will suit up this Friday when the Xplosion take on conference rivals, the Chicago Slaughter.
"We're very excited to have T.J. back this year. We fought to get him back because he was so vital to our success last season," said Sparks. "He and Scott Russell in the middle will definitely be a force."
Tyus will wear number 46 this season rather than 55, which he wore in 2007.
