Three minutes into it, three miles from The Strip, the Vipers' Pita Taomopenu made a strip of his own. The former Utah star collapsed the pocket (the Pita pocket?) jarring the ball loose from the Defenders' Jordan Ta'amu on the D.C. two. One play later, DeAndre Torrey barged across the goal line to get the home crowd rocking... at least until the Defenders' Reggie Northrup top-roped QB Luis Perez on the 2-point conversion. Home team ahead, 6-0, ahead of the darkness and rain that would soon descend on the stadium.
