
WWU's Duty Joins Bellingham Slam

BELLINGHAM, Wash.-Michael Duty will join the Bellingham Slam for the team's 2011 International Basketball League season, the team announced today.
A versatile 6'6" forward, Duty recently completed his senior season at Western Washington University where he was the team's leading scorer, averaging 16.4 points per game. He also ranked second on the team in rebounding, with 5.9 per game, and third in steals, with 29.
Duty has spent the previous three seasons at WWU, missing nearly the entire 2009-10 campaign with a broken finger. As a junior, he 10.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game on a squad that advanced to the NCAA West Regional Tournament.
A prep standout at O'Dea High School in Seattle, Duty helped lead the Irish to a 3A state title in 2007. He played one year each at Division-I Wagner College in New Yorkand BellevueCollegebefore ultimately transferring to WWU.
Duty will make his professional debut for the Slam in their 2011 season opener on Friday, April 15 against the West Coast Hotshots. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.at Whatcom Pavilion.
